Alisdair Macrae - A Name That Means Butterfly

Alisdair Macrae’s practice is centered in two interacting domains: questions of community and the exchanges by which community is structured, and our bodily experience of architectural and social space. His built objects are often domestically useful, made from hardware store kit plans, and enter the world through ‘for sale’ posters, classified ads, raffles, and other straightforward means. His built installations are depictions of proprioceptive experience which require our bodily participation.
A Name That Means Butterfly is a cleverly disguised guide on how to fasten things with a nut and bolt.  Eight CAD renderings of a bolt, two washers, and a nut diagram possible useful combinations, though not particular applications.
